Four of the 6 bandits shot dead by police identified; 15-year old girl among the deceased

Six bandits – five men and one teenage girl – are dead after a shootout with police in Freeport just before midday on Wednesday, August 14.

Four of the six killed have been as identified as Kevon St Bernard, also called Kevon John; Jovan Simon; Nicholas Caesar and Saloni Ranghill, the lone female who was 15.

They were shot around 11.35 am, after officers of the Criminal Investigations Department in Couva, responded to reports of a robbery at Razac Trace, Freeport.

Police said when they arrived at the scene, they were allegedly fired upon.

In keeping with the TTPS use-of-force policy, officers returned fire, shooting all six suspects in the exchange.

All six were taken to the Couva Health Facility, where they reportedly died.

Police recovered three firearms along with items belonging to the victim of the robbery.

The victims were reportedly part of a ring that had been responsible for a string of robberies in the past several months in the Central Division.
