Four arrested minutes after robbery in Maraval

Four teenagers were arrested by police during a roadblock exercise in Maraval yesterday, minutes after committing a robbery.

While conducting a roadblock exercise at Yogie Drive, Morne Coco Road, Maraval, Cpl Hunte and members of the Western Division Task Force, stopped a brown Nissan B-14 vehicle.

While police were interviewing the four occupants of the vehicle, a woman approached the police and informed officers that the men in the said vehicle had just robbed her.

The victim reported that around 2.15pm on Tuesday 17th November, 2020 she was walking along Morne Coco Road, Maraval, when a brown Nissan B-14 vehicle stopped in front of her.

The victim alleged that two men got out of the said vehicle, and demanded that she give them her handbag.

The victim reported that the said men snatched her handbag containing her cell phone and a quantity of cash, entered the waiting vehicle, then escaped by driving west along Morne Coco Road.

The stolen items were recovered and the four suspects were arrested and taken to the Maraval Police Station pending enquires.

Investigations are continuing.
