Former Police Officer appointed Prisons Commissioner

Former police officer Cedric Neptune has been appointed Inspector of Prisons. This is in accordance with Sec 19 of prisons Act CHP 13:01.

The announcement made by  Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds at a media conference on Monday afternoon.

Minister Hinds outlined the role of the Inspector of Prisons before presenting Mr Neptune with his instruments of appointment.

Minister Hinds also took time to outline Mr. Neptune’s qualifications:

Meanwhile newly appointed Inspector Neptune wants to reform the role of Inspector of Prisons to meet the needs of a 21st century Prison system.

He wants to immediately meet with the Administration of the prisons to chart the way forward.

He served  in the position previously from 2017-2019.
