Former Health Minister Dr Fuad Khan questions inaction ahead of rising dengue cases

There will always be a cycle of mosquito bourne illnesses every few years.

The question is, since this is a regular occurrence, why didn’t the regional corporations take action to ensure that mitigating issues relating to the increase in mosquitoes were dealt with?

This is the question being asked by Former Health Minister Dr Fuad Khan.

He told the Power Breakfast Show this morning that there needs to be more insect vector control officers going house to house to ensure there are no mosquito breeding grounds.

Three weeks ago this country recorded 190 lab confirmed cases, however according to Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh as of Monday there were 229 lab confirmed cases indicating a sharp increase in the numbers thus far.

Dr Khan also cautioned members of the public not to use aspirin if they believe that they may have the dengue virus.
