Former Energy Minister not surprised by bpTT’s job cuts

Former Energy Minister, Kevin Ramnarine, says jobs cuts at Energy Company BP come as no surprise.

In a media release on Wednesday, bpTT said 149 employees will exit the company on a voluntary or involuntary basis.

The company said it has completed the process of notifying employees of the outcome of the restructuring. It said the majority of exits will occur in January 2021.

bpTT said the reduction was achieved in two phases, in September this year and between October and November.

Speaking during the TV6 News on Wednesday night, Mr. Ramnarine spoke of the challenges facing the energy industry at this time and the impact it is having on operations.

Mr. Ramnarine also commented on BP’s plan moving forward.
