Former National Operation Centre Head, Garvin Heerah says the use of bodycams by the TTPS should be piloted in just one particular police district or department.
He made the comment this morning while speaking on Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show.
He explained that this will aid in ensuring the seamless integration of the technology into the entire police service.
The Strategic Security Expert noted the apparent resistance towards the use of the equipment by police officers.
Mr Heerah said the use of the bodycams takes a cultural change and added that a pilot project of this nature will give an opportunity for the challenges to be worked out and address the reasons for resistance of its use within the TTPS.
Mr Heerah also suggested that the change needs to be encouraged by the higher-ups.
