Former Finance Minister Karen Nunez-Tesheira has suggested that there are other avenues that the Government can pursue rather than implementing the Property Tax right if its intention is to increase income.
She told Power 102 FM’s Power Breakfast Show that given the financial challenges facing citizens at this time, the Government could consider other options.
She suggested that the Government look at beefing up its taxation compliance or perhaps implementing an increase in VAT on luxury items.
Mrs Nunez-Tesheira noted however that the implementation of Property tax is inevitable and said the only question that should be asked is “when” it should be implemented.
