Flooding, traffic pile up on roads as the rain begins

Yesterday, the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service issued a yellow alert which spells adverse weather for the twin-island over the next few days. Periods of showers and thunderstorms are expected during this period. The Met Office warns of elevated risk of street, flash and riverine flooding as the week progresses.

This morning there are reports of flash flooding occurring in Cocorite as the photo suggests, other parts of the country. Drivers are advised to use caution on the nation’s roads.
