Five men appear in court for possession of narcotics

Five men appeared before the San Fernando and Princes Town Magistrates’ Courts yesterday to answer to charges involving narcotics,
disorderly behaviour, and resisting arrest.

ALEX KERR, 44, labourer, of Wellington Road, Debe, was arrested for being in possession of one gramme of cocaine. He pleaded not guilty and was granted $60,000 bail with a surety. He is expected to reappear on May 21st.

LUKE DEGANNES, 32, labourer, of Ramsamooj Trace, Debe, pleaded guilty to possession of one gramme of cocaine, and he was fined $5,000 or in default nine months’ hard labour.

WILFRED MITCHELL, 63, labourer of Balisier Avenue, Pleasantville, pleaded guilty to possession of one gramme of cocaine, and he was fined $3,000 or in default nine months’ hard labour.

MICHAEL SAMUEL, 52, labourer, of Navet Road, San Fernando, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour and resisting arrest. He was fined $5,000 for resisting and $100 for disorderly behaviour.

SAHADATH RAMDIAL, 23, labourer of Stone Road, Piparo, appeared before a Princes Town Magistrate yesterday and pleaded guilty to
possession of 181 grammes marijuana, possession of two grammes cocaine and a possession of a device (an apparatus used to ingest cocaine).

RAMDIAL was fined $2,000, for being in possession of cocaine or in default four months’ hard labour, $5,000 for possession of marijuana or in default four months’ hard labour and $750 for the device.

On April 22nd, 2021, Southern Division conducted a narcotics eradication exercise.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Lucia Winchester, Supt Carty, ASP Ramdass, Insp Phillip supervised by Sgt Joseph, Sgt
Charles, Cpl Charles and included officers from the Southern Division Task Force.
