There is still a level of confidence in the existing arrangement for the selection of a substantive Commissioner of Police.
The optimism comes from National Security Minister, Fitzgerald Hinds.
Minister Hinds was replying at the time to matters posed to him at a news briefing on the future leadership of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Monday.
On Wednesday the parliament will meet to consider the nominees as put forward by President Paula Mae Weekes.
Minister Hinds is hoping once this stage of the process is realized work will then take place with a reconstituted Police Service Commission which will move on with the appointment of a Commissioner of Police.
