A woman’s body was found in the waters of Granville, Cedros on Tuesday and it is believed to be that of a Venezuelan national – one of the many that drowned this past weekend.
The discovery was made by a group of fishermen, who were out on a fishing expedition in the Gulf of Paria.
The body was floating face down, and a floatation device was around the torso.
Coast guard officers were notified, and they retrieved the body around mid-afternoon near Platform 14 in the Granville area.
Police are now seeking information on the woman’s identity.
Several Venezuelans are still unaccounted for from the tragic shipwreck off Guiria, which has led to the discovery of close to 20 bodies thus far.
