Fiscal Budget 2020/2021 – T&T’s ‘Digital Cultural Shift’

Finance Minister, Colm Imbert announced that T&T will be making a ‘Digital Cultural Shift’.

Minister Imbert, speaking during the Fiscal Budget presentation 2020/2021, said Digitisation will move the country forward, especially in light of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Minister Imbert said this will include free public WIFI, student broadband availability, national digital database, nationwide 45 and 5G network and Digital Procurement Solutions.

Minister Imbert also congratulated his colleague – the Minister of Education, Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly for what he deems as ‘successful opening of a new school term’.

Minister Imbert also announced that the Government allocated “$50M for the acquisition of computers for needy students”.
“The acquisition and distribution of computers will be a joint effort between the Ministry of Education to identify students and the Ministry of Public Administration to ensure specification of equipment,” said Minister Imbert.
