Financial Sustainablity High On The Agenda For UWI, Says Vice-Chancellor

The University of the West Indies is confident in the next five years it can turn around its financial funding model so that reliance upon the public revenue will be significantly diminished.

The UWI is currently in phase two of its strategic plan (2022-2027) focusing on a revenue revolution that will see the institution become financially sustainable.

It’s a point made by Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles while delivering the feature presentation, at the meeting of the University Council recently as the UWI celebrated its 75th Diamond jubilee.

Professor Beckles said the UWI must find ways to ensure its operations are aimed at lessening its reliance on government funding.
