A female prison officer was attacked at the Women’s Prison in Arouca after she disciplined an inmate.
Reports indicate that the around 1:00p.m on Tuesday the officer spoke to the prisoner and, when she turned her back, the prisoner jumped on her ad began to beat her.
The officer was quickly saved by her fellow prison officers and taken to the Arima hospital where she was treated for injuries to her head.
The prisoner was locked away.
