Female Prison Officer makes history; appointed Superintendent of Prisons

Special congratulations go out to Ms. Charmaine Johnson on her promotion from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Prisons to that of Superintendent of Prisons.

Ms Johnson, who has over thirty-two years of service, has made history in the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service as being the first female officer to be promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Prisons.

On Wednesday March 15, 2023, Ms. Johnson was handed her Instrument of Appointment by Commissioner of Prisons (Ag), Mr. Deopersad Ramoutar during a brief ceremony at his Port of Spain Office. He congratulated her for her remarkable achievements during her tenure and advised her to continue to be a positive role model for all females. He also noted the significance of the promotion and urged her to use it as a tool to aspire and inspire.

Present at the momentous occasion were Deputy Commissioner of Prisons (Ag), Mr Carlos Corraspe and Assistant Commissioner of Prisons (Ag), Mr. Patrick King, who also congratulated Ms. Johnson on her historic attainment.

The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service salutes Ms. Charmaine Johnson on her promotion.
