The father of a child who was allegedly abused during a video call has spoken out.
The video has also prompted action from the Child Protection Unit of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and the child has now been taken out of the care of a female, along with a one-month baby.
The female has since been released and an investigation is ongoing.
The video which has been shared widely on social media shows a woman striking and choking a young boy while questioning a man as to his where-a-bouts on the phone.
Speaking with President of the Single Fathers Association Rhondall Feeles, father of the boy Ramesh Basdeo, a Guyanese national said the ordeal surrounding the incident has been heart-wrenching.
He said his relationship with the woman was tumultuous so he walked away.
He explained the events that led to the video.
