Fatal home invasion in Carlsen Field – son killed, father wounded

A 27-year-old man is dead and his 66-year-old father is nursing gunshot wounds after four masked men stormed their Carlsen Field home early this morning and announced a robbery.

The four armed men entered the home of Matthew Perez-Christian, 66, between 5.30 and 6 am and demanded money.

Reports state that a struggle ensued between the bandits and Perez-Christian and his son, Christopher Christian, 27.

During the struggle, the younger Christian was shot in the chest and died in the living room.

The bandits then fled the scene empty-handed.

The elder Christian was rushed to the Chaguanas Health Centre by the police and he was subsequently taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Centre in an ambulance for treatment.

Both men worked on a farm and sold meat in the St James Market.

The elder Christian is known as Perez the “beef man” at the St James Market.
