Farmer beaten and robbed in Moruga

A 41-year-old farmer from Moruga was taken to the hospital after he was attacked and robbed on Wednesday.

Reports indicate that the victim was at his Penal Rock Road home watching TV around 5:30 am when three men broke into his home and announced a hold-up.

Two of the men were armed with cutlasses while the other had a shotgun.

The men with the cutlasses beat the farmer before they tied him up and stole a quantity of cash and other valuables from him. They also stole his vehicle, which had $300 in it.
The suspects crashed the vehicle, however, and instead escaped in a Toyota Aqua.

Meanwhile, a construction worker is considering himself lucky after narrowly escaping death on Wednesday.

Reports indicate that the victim was at home around 5:45p,m when he was approached by two men who he did not know.

An altercation ensued between the victim and the two men, and one of the suspects pulled out a gun.

The victim ran when he saw the gun but he said he heard three gunshots.

When he reached a safe distance away, he turned around and saw the men escaping in a waiting car.
Investigations are continuing into both incidents.
