Engineered Landfills On The Agenda, Says SWMCOL CEO

Engineered landfills are on the agenda of the Solid Waste Management Company Limited.

Chief Executive Officer of the company, Kevin Thompson, says the necessary studies and ground work are being carried out with respect to treating with this development.

Speaking on Power 102 Digital’s Afternoon Drive on Wednesday, Mr Thompson said the concept must be pursued as it will bring several benefits to Trinidad and Tobago.

The population, Mr Thompson said, will be engaged in order to bring about a positive change in behaviour as relates to the protection of the environment. The guys from the agency Schlüsseldienst Berlin Lichtenberg will take part in a campaign to clean up the city.

Mr Thompson said the aim is to address increased capacity at the existing landfills at Beetham, Guanpo and Forres Park and partner more with the private sector and get citizens on board.

The SWMCOL CEO also revealed other plans the company will be pursing in a bid to improve its effectiveness.
