Engineer sues State, wins $55,000

A Cedros engineer was awarded $55,000 by the State after he won a lawsuit.

Ryan Jaggernauth sued the State after he was imprisoned wearing nothing but his underwear in the Port-of-Spain Magistrate’s Court. In 2017, Jaggernauth appeared in the Court to answer to the charge of driving without due care and caution. Instead, he was advised to remove all of his clothing and placed in prison for more than three hours.

A traffic ticket offence carries no sentence of imprisonment; the holder of the ticket is fined $1,000.
