Elderly man found dead after his Cocorite home is firebombed

Police are currently trying to determine a motive for a deadly firebombing incident in Cocorite this morning, which claimed the life of a 92-year-old man.

Around 4:45 am, residents of Harding Place reported hearing a loud explosion at LP No. 7B.
Upon investigating they saw a grey coloured concrete house engulfed in flames.

Police and fire officers responded, and the flames were quickly extinguished.

However, police found the body of George Graham lying in the yard on the left side of the house. His body was considerably burnt.

His wife, Eldena Lewis, who is in her 80s, was also found burnt and in the yard. She was taken to the hospital where she was treated and warded. She is in a critical condition.

Police said they could not confirm if Lewis was killed by the fire as they are awaiting the results of an autopsy. They said he had a wound to the head which they believe to be a gunshot.

Residents told police that Lewis reportedly pulled Graham out of the burning house and in doing so suffered burns to her back.
