East Dry River man shot in the head by South Quay

A man was shot in the head today in the Capital City.

Joel Williams, 30, of East Dry River, was standing at the corner of Broadway and South Quay in the vicinity of Maraj Jewellers around 12.15 pm, when a gunman walked up from behind him and opened fire.

Williams fell forward on the roadway whilst the gunman turned around and ran towards the Sea Lots area.

Bystanders ran for safety while the traffic continued to flow.

Officers who were nearby took Williams to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was treated and warded in a stable condition.

Officers of the Port-of-Spain Task Force searched the Sea Lots area but were unable to locate the suspect.
