Former PSA president and current political leader of the Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP) Watson Duke will have to stand trial for rape and indecent assault.
The ruling was made on Tuesday by Magistrate Marissa Gomez, who found that there was sufficient evidence by the State to have him face trial at the High Court.
Following the committal, Duke, who was represented by senior counsel Gilbert Peterson and John Heath, was granted bail in the sum of $250,000.
He is accused of committing acts of serious indecency against a woman on four occasions between January and April 2016, at the headquarters of the Public Service Association (PSA) in Port of Spain, while he was president and raping her on May 10, 2016, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port of Spain.
The alleged victim, according to the charges, was an employee of the union.
