Drama again as the elderly turned away from Health Centres; only 50 – 100 allowed

The Ministry of Health may have to revisit its mass vaccine rollout plan yet again, even with a newly implemented alphabetical system, which began today.

Reports reaching izzso state that there are still problems at various sites across the country as the elderly people, who turned up for the jabs, were being turned away.

People over the age of 60 with surnames starting from A to E turned up at the vaccine facilities by the hundreds.
Some of these people would have been in the chaos yesterday.

But, after waiting today as well, health officials passed along the message that only 50 to 100 people would be vaccinated, and everyone should go home.

The situation occurred in the Siparia, Princes Town, Chaguanas, Ste Madeleine, St Joseph, Barataria, Marabella and La Romaine health facilities.

An Express report stated that that at the Carenage Health Facility, 50 people were chosen and those who didn’t get a number were told they would have to wait for five days, until the surnames A to E were called again.
