Former Minister of health Dr.Fuad Khan says government should allow the private sector to seek and acquire covid-19 vaccines. Speaking to Izzso media he said they would be more more efficient in the acquisition of the life saving vaccines in a situation where there is significant global demand and smaller countries are being sidelined in terms of access to the various brands of vaccines.
Dr. Khan also said the covax is able to negotiate for covid-19 vaccines and get a much better deal on price and availability because they can buy in bulk for more Caribbean countries, than smaller countries trying to negotiate on their own. he said pharmaceutical companies are not benevolent manufactures, it all about maximising profits even in a pandemic.
