Document And Archive TT’s Cultural History Says Soca Artiste Faye Ann Lyons Alvarez

Soca artiste, Faye Ann Lyons-Alvarez, is citing the need for close attention to be placed on proper archiving and documenting of the music and cultural history of Trinidad and Tobago.

She made the suggestion while being interviewed on Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show on Tuesday morning.

Mrs Lyons- Alvarez said this aspect of cultural legacy should not be under estimated as the material documented will be used, read or viewed by people now and for years to come.

The daughter of soca veteran, Super Blue, said the relevance of such activity should not be over looked adding its historical importance is critical.

The Point Fortin native also cited job creation from the annual festival which contributes to national development and productivity.

Ms Lyons suggested there be a proper structure which will ensure the carnival product is marketed throughout the year and contribute to the tourism sector in a meaningful way and on a sustained basis.
