A D’abadie disc jockey known as DJ Ochro has died, after he got into difficulty while bathing at Tyrico Bay on Monday.
DJ Ochro, born Atiba Francis, had gone swimming around 1.30 pm when he got into difficulty and disappeared under the water.
After beachgoers alerted lifeguards, efforts were made to rescue him but these proved futile.
A diver assigned to the Maracas Beach Lifeguard unit was eventually summoned and was able to pull the unresponsive Francis from the water, where he was quickly attended to by EMT personnel John Seepersad and Cyd Elder, who administered CPR.
After detecting a slight pulse, he was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where he succumbed a short while later.
