Digicel donates educational devices to 12 schools

The Digicel Foundation is doing its part to ensure that students in need are provided with devices.

Last Friday, 75 laptops and 19 tablets were handed over to the Division of Education.

Director of the Foundation, Georgina Peterkin, said this speaks to Digicel’s corporate social responsibility.

She said “Through a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and its adopt-a-school programme, the foundation is combining our efforts to further support students with disabilities and students from main stream schools. This approach takes into consideration that many students also lack access to technology and/or reliable connectivity.

Secretary of the Division, Kelvin Charles, said he is extremely grateful as these devices are now an inevitable part of the education system.

Twelve primary schools will benefit from the donation and the principals were on hand to receive the devices.
