Diego Martin Health Centre expected to open later this week

Residents of Diego Martin will soon be able benefit from the newly-built Diego Martin Health Centre which is expected to begin serving the community and environs later this week.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley officially opened the new facility today (Tuesday 6th October, 2020).

During his feature address, Dr Rowley said the centre will “become one of the most utilized health facilities outside of Port of Spain General Hospital” as Diego Martin is one of the most populous areas in the country.

As the Member of Parliament for Diego Martin West, Dr Rowley thanked the North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA), saying the facility will be cared for, appreciated and contribute to an improved quality of life for individuals living in the general Diego Martin area.

Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh said “the location of this health centre allows the communities of Bagatelle, River Estate, Patna Village, Covigne Road, Factory Road, Diamond Vale, Rich Plain and surrounding areas, all 87,000 persons to access healthcare.” He also added that the facility was completed within budget and delivered one month ahead of schedule.

The two-storey primary health facility will offer:
• Wound Care
• Doctor Consultation & Consultant
• Patient Assessment
• Pharmacy Dispensing
• Diabetic Eye Screening Services
• Dental Services
• X-Ray, Ultrasound
• Allied health care services including – Phlebotomy, HIV testing, Dietary Counselling, Point-of-Care testing, Social Welfare services and a
• Fully outfitted Gym accessible after hours
