DESALCOTT completes maintenance work on Point Lisas Desal Plant

The Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago (Desalcott) and the Water and Sewerage Authority (the Authority) wish to announce the early completion of planned maintenance work on the Point Lisas Desal Plant. Works on the facility were completed today Thursday 10th October 2019, five days ahead of schedule.

During the period of the shutdown, Desalcott completed important maintenance works necessary on critical equipment and systems including the flocculation and sedimentation basins, media filters, sludge thickener, clearwell and outfall tanks, back wash surge tank, transformers, fiber optic cables, media filter valves and the 10 million gallon product tank. These are in keeping with maintaining the reliability of operations at the plant for the upcoming 2020 Dry Season.

The above-mentioned tasks were successfully completed ahead of the 15 days planned shut down and the Authority will restore water supply to the affected areas as per original supply schedules over the next forty-eight (48) hours. Some additional works have been identified and will be undertaken in the future.

Customers in the affected areas are commended for their efficient water use during the period of the shutdown and are encouraged to continue to reduce consumption and conserve as the Authority manages water availability in preparation for the Dry Season 2020. Customers are also reminded to adhere to the water use restrictions that remain in place until further notice.

For further information or assistance, customers can contact WASA’s Call Centre toll free at 800-4420/4426.

The Authority apologises for the inconvenience and thanks customers for their understanding.
