Delta to become dominant COVID strain in T&T within weeks

It is just a matter of weeks before the Delta variant becomes endemic in Trinidad and Tobago.

The claim comes from Geneticist and Bio Technology Professor Dr Nicole Ramlachan.

Dr Ramlachan made the prediction while speaking with the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital this morning.

She explained that based on the findings and data from other countries, T&T is just weeks away from Delta becoming the dominant strain.

Dr Ramlachan also told Power 102 Digital that the Covid Virus, like other viruses, will continue to mutate and produce variants.

She explained that the virus is under evolutionary pressure to mutate and ensure it remains as transmissible as possible.

She added that death is just an unintentional and unfortunate side effect of the mutation.
