Delay in pension and disability cheques

Challenges experienced by the National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago with the printing of the cheques, consequent on the need to readjust staff schedules to address the emergency COVID 19 protective measures.

This is the reason given by the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services for the delay in the delivery of cheques to recipients of Senior Citizens’ Pension, Disability Assistance and Public Assistance Grants for the month of June.

The Ministry says due to this delay, chequeswere unable to be delivered to the Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation in accordance with the regular schedule, resulting in a further delay in the delivery to grant recipients.

The Ministry says recipients are however advised delivery of cheques for the Public Assistance Grant and Senior Citizens’ Pension commenced on Tuesday and continued today.

It says delivery of cheques for the Disability Assistance Grant (Adults and Children) commenced today and will continue on Friday.

The Ministry says persons on the Direct Deposit system were not affected by this arrangement and so, received their funding directly in their bank accounts, as is customary.

The Ministry says it is working with the Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation and the National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago to ensure timely delivery of social services to the vulnerable.
