Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mc Donald Jacob has been appointed the Accounting Officer for the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
The Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, in a media release on Saturday afternoon, advised that the appointment in accordance with Section 2 of the Exchequer and Audit Act, Chap. 69:01 and Regulation 3 of the Financial Regulations, took effect from October 15th, 2021, until further notice.
This news comes after Jacob’s appointment as acting Commissioner of Police came to an end on Friday, following a High Court ruling on Thursday by Justice Nadia Kangaloo.
Kangaloo ruled that the acting appointments of Jacob and Gary Griffith by the previous Bliss Seepersad-led Police Service Commission (PSC) were illegal and unconstitutional, since they were not done in accordance with provisions set out in Section 123 of the Constitution.
