CWU Urges Cabinet To Instruct TSTT To Put On Halt Any Restructuring Plans It Has

The Communications Workers Union is calling on the cabinet to instruct the Telecommunication Services of Trinidad and Tobago to put on halt any restructuring plans it has.

CWU claims this should be done until the cabinet subcommittee completes its work on TSTT’s operations.

The suggestion is coming from the Secretary General of the Communications Workers Union, Clyde Elder.

On Thursday, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart Young, said a five member committee will do a thorough evaluation into TSTT’s operations.

Minister Young made the remark while speaking during the weekly post cabinet news briefing held on Thursday afternoon.

However, speaking in an interview with News Power Digital Friday morning, Mr Elder said until the cabinet sub committee meets, deliberates and submits its report the CWU is recommending TSTT should put on hold its plans surrounding any restructuring moves.

Mr Elder also proposed a Joint Select Committee of Parliament meets and review the subject adding a sitting of this kind has a wider range of input from various fields in addition to having the contribution of politicians.
