CWU claims TSTT is set to embark on another retrenchment exercise

The Communications Workers Union is today alleging that the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) is set to embark on another ‘reorganization exercise’.

In a media release issued this afternoon, CWU said the National Enterprises Limited made two publications in the daily newspapers on its audited Financial Statement as at March 31, 2021.

The Union also claims that the statement quoted by NEL’s Chairman implies that “while TSTT has experienced a 35% reduction in value, the company has embarked on another reorganization exercise.”

CWU in its release also claims that TSTT has not engaged in discussions with the Union – and as such it will oppose attempts made by the cell giant to represent both junior and senior staff.

CWU is also alleging that TSTT says it does “not have finances to pay money owed to workers who were retrenched in 2018 and those who have retired in 2016.”

IzzSo Media is currently awaiting a response from the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago on CWU’s claims
