Customs reduces operating hours at Express Consignment area in Piarco as staff in quarantine

The Comptroller of the Customs and Excise Division has informed all its stakeholders of the temporary adjustment of operational hours at the Area designated for Express Consignments at the Swissport Bond at Piarco.

This has become necessary due to the staff stationed at the Express Consignment Area being primary contacts of recent Covid19 Positive patients.

All required Covid19 protocols have been implemented.

Consequently the staff have been quarantined and the area deeply sanitised.

All importers have been told that until further notice, the Area shall operate from 8am to 4pm Mondays to Fridays, as opposed to the usual time of 8am to 10pm.

The impact of this change is reduced capacity, resulting in a stricter scheduling of Courier companies’ attendance at the Bond. Unfortunately, this also means that the time between arrival of packages at Piarco and the final delivery to customers will also be extended.
