COVID vaccine safe for breastfeeding mothers

On June 28th the Ministry of Health approved the use of the Sinopharm vaccine for use by breast feeding women and hundreds of women in this group took the opportunity to get vaccinated.

This is according to Director of Women’s Health Dr Adesh Sirjoosingh who made the comments at the Ministry of Health’s Covid Media Update yesterday.

Women who received the first dose of the Covid 19 vaccine and then became pregnant would not be given another dose until the end of their pregnancy as T&T is still not vaccinating this particular group.

Dr Sirjoosingh said that Pfizer might offer some hope for T&T in the future.

He disclosed a final determination will be made by the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group.
