Covid claims 2 victims- death toll now at 78

The Ministry of Health has confirmed the deaths of two additional persons. 

One person was an elderly male and the other was an elderly female, both with pre-existing conditions.

This brings the total number of  COVID-19 related deaths to 78.

An additional 80 persons have tested positive for COVID -19

These new patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the CMOHs.

The Ministry then provided the following clinical update:

Number of samples submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), the UWI and other local sites for testing for COVID-19- 32,122

Number of unique patient tests completed- 29,017

Number of repeated tests- 3,105

Number of samples which have tested positive at public and private facilities in Trinidad and Tobago- 4,709

Total number of active cases- 1,829

Number of deaths- 78

Number of persons discharged from public health facilities- 1,086

Number of recovered community cases- 1,716

 

There are 103 Covid-19 patients in the hospital:

Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility- 65 (5 ICU and 9 HDU)

Caura Hospital- 28

Arima General Hospital- 4 in ICU

St Ann’s Hospital- 3

Scarborough Regional Hospital at the Fort- 2

Scarborough General Hospital, Signal Hill- 1

 

There are 13 COVID-19 Positive Patients in Step-down / Transition Facilities:

UWI, Debe- 7

Tobago- 6
