COVID-19 outbreak at Lady Hochoy Home, Cocorite

Operations at the Lady Hochoy Home in Cocorite have been restricted, in light of an outbreak of Covid-19.

So far, eight members of staff, 12 adult residents, and three children have tested positive for the virus.

Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Ayanna Webster-Roy, in providing an update on the situation on Friday, said, “Positive and negative residents have been separated into different spaces, and also, they are maintaining separation between adults and children.”

She said while the facility has not been closed down, its’ operations have been restricted.

She said the Children’s Authority of T&T (CATT), which had oversight for the Home, will provide the necessities in terms of the quality of the facility, the staffing and care of the children.

Webster-Roy said, “The CATT is ensuring the best interest of the children is maintained at all points in time.”
