Couva salesman charged for receiving stolen cell phones

Officers of the Fraud Squad, Southern Division, arrested and charged one man with two counts of receiving stolen property.

LYNDEN BISNATH, a 38-year-old salesman of Couva, was arrested on March 19th, 2021 after a collaborative effort between the Fraud Squad Southern Division and the Cybercrime Unit.

BISNATH was allegedly involved in an operation which secured several cell phones from a company using fraudulent cheques.

The incidents occurred during the period January 8th to January 11th, 2021.

The devices amounted to $199,844.

The exercise, coordinated by Snr Supt Arlet Groome and Insp. Bachoo, and supervised by Sgt. Seepersad led to the recovery of two of the devices
]in the Central Division. BISNATH was subsequently charged by Cpl (Ag.)
Mohammed on March 22nd, 2021.
He will appear before the Couva Magistrates Court on March 24th, 2021.
