Courtney Walsh no longer Windies Women’s head coach

Cricket West Indies (CWI) have decided not to renew the contracts of Windies women’s head coach Courtney Walsh and technical assistants Robert Samuels and Corey Collymore.

CWI Director of Cricket Jimmy Adams thanked the trio for the contributions they made and said the recruitment process for a new coach will commence in the coming weeks.

“We are very grateful for the contribution of Courtney and his technical team over the past two and a half years and we wish them all the best going forward.”

“CWI remains committed to our international women’s programme and will now be focusing on recruiting a new Head Coach and technical support team.”

“An interim technical support team will be put in place during the recruitment period.”

According to ICC Cricket R, results in recent times have not gone to plan for Walsh and the West Indies, with the Caribbean side failing to qualify for the knockout stages of the recent T20 World Cup in South Africa.

The West Indies were beaten by England and India in their opening two matches of the tournament.

Walsh took the top job in October of 2020 and led the West Indies to the semi-finals of the 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup in New Zealand where they lost to eventual winners Australia.
