A Couva man was arrested during an intelligence-led exercise conducted by officers of the Central Division, investigating six reports of robberies involving several online stores and couriers.
Various businesses reported to police that during the period February 2024 and August 2024, their couriers were the victims of robberies in the Freeport district, resulting in the loss of a wide assortment of packages, cash and other valuables.
Investigations revealed that all six robbery incidents contained the same modus operandi, the same description of the suspect and the same contact number used to place orders with the online businesses.
The exercise was conducted between 1 pm and 4:30 pm, on Monday 12th August, 2024 and included officers of the Freeport Criminal Investigations Department and the Central Division Gang Unit.
During the operation, the officers proceeded to Beaucarro Road, Freeport, where they held one 21-year-old man and seized several items.
Investigations are ongoing into the above matter.
The operation was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Simon, Supt. Glodon, Insps. Estrada and Sylvan and supervised by Sgt. Harriot, all of the Central Division.
