Couple arrested for marijuana possession

A man and his common-law wife were arrested for being in possession of marijuana yesterday.

Between 10 am on Friday 10th September and 10 am on Saturday 11th September, 2021, an Operation Strike Back 3 Exercise was conducted in the Maraval area. While searching an area at Hilltop Drive, Saddle Road, Maraval, officers stopped and searched a black Hyundai Tucson vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, the officers found two kilogrammes of marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle. The police took possession of the marijuana and the driver of the vehicle was arrested by Ag Cpl Pennie.

The officers then proceeded driver’s home in St James, where in the presence of his common-law wife, his home was searched. The officers found a plastic bag containing 250 grammes of marijuana. They took possession of the narcotics and the woman was also arrested for being in possession of marijuana.

The exercise was spearheaded by Snr Supt Kelvern Thompson, Supt Henry, W/Supt George, ASP Baird, ASP Brown. It was coordinated by Insp Grant, Insp John and supervised by Ag Sgt Joefield and Ag Cpl Pennie and included members of the Maraval CID and Station Charge Room, WDTF, and Canine Unit.
