Couple arrested – firearm and ammunition seized in Santa Cruz

A man and his girlfriend were arrested for being in possession of a firearm and ammunition. The arrests took place during an Operation Strike Back 3 exercise which was conducted in Santa Cruz yesterday.

During the exercise, officers received information which led them to execute a search warrant for arms and ammunition at a house located at Grand Curacaye, Lower Santa Cruz.

During the search, officers found one Sig Sauer nine-millimetre pistol, with one magazine fitted with 15 rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition.
A man and his girlfriend were arrested and the officers took possession of the firearm and ammunition.

The exercise was spearheaded by Ag/Supt Winston Maharaj, Ag/Supt Ramjohn, ASP Pariman, coordinated by Insp Bharath and supervised by Ag/ Sgt Quashie and Ag/ Cpl Ramkissoon and other members of the North Eastern Division Task Force.
Investigations are continuing.
