Council of Parent Teachers Association calling for cancellation of SEA

In light of the current spike in Covid19 cases and the lack of interaction between teachers and students due to sit the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA), the National Council of Parent Teachers Association (NCPTA) is calling for the cancellation of the exam, which is scheduled for June 10.

NCPTA president, Clarence Mendoza in an interview with GML, said that after dialogue with its regional members, it decided on a two-part plan.

He said Plan A will see the June 10 date either moved up to July or August, based on the Ministry of Health guidelines or Plan B – “for the Ministry of Education to cancel the 2021 SEA exam and use whatever means necessary at this point in time, which is our students’ report books or their reports that were handed down based on the yearly attendance to school.”

Mendoza said Barbados was already considering Plan B, to help the students move forward instead of waiting another year.
He said it would be good for T&T to follow suit.
