Corroded flowline blamed for small oil leak in Palo Seco

Heritage Petroleum has sent a team to deal with the reports of oil being seen in the yards of three residents at Weber Trace, Palo Seco.

The company, via a release, said it dispatched a Spill Response Team to the location on Monday, which has since determined the source of the leak to be a corroded flowline.

The oil had leaked into about 300 feet of a nearby drain as well as a dasheen bush patch belonging to a resident.

The leaks have reportedly been secured and clean-up undertaken, with the drain being scraped to remove contaminated soil, concrete areas washed, and the free oil recovered.

Heritage said air quality testing was also performed, with all readings well within the acceptable parameters.

Since some leaching of oil is expected due to rainfall the company assures that it will continue to monitor the area.
