Police are investigating the alleged kidnapping of a Venezuelan woman, who was later freed after a ransom was paid on Tuesday.
Thirty-year-old Lady Dianne Tavarez was reportedly held captive after she was abducted on Monday 26th August 2024, within the South-Western Division, while on her way to conduct a transaction in Penal.
Her sister, in a Crime Watch interview, said she was contacted by the kidnappers, who demanded a $25,000 ransom.
The woman however, met a man on the roadway opposite the Penal Police Station and paid him $22,500.
The victim was released sometime before midday on Tuesday and taken for medical treatment at the Siparia District Health Facility.
