Cops hold bandits after gyro robbery

Five men are in police custody after they robbed and stabbed a man at a gyro stand on Thursday morning.

According to ADD News TT, the 30-year-old Barataria man was at the gyro cart at the corner of Aziz Lane and the Eastern Main Road, San Juan, just after 12.40 am when three men pulled out knives and announced a robbery.

The man resisted and was stabbed several times on his left hand and left elbow by the bandits who then stole his cellphone.

The three men ran on to the Eastern Main Road.

Officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force were called and stopped a white Nissan Wingroad containing the three bandits and two other men they suspect were accomplices.

The men ages 19, 22, 23, 26, and 34 were held and are expected to be questioned by San Juan CID.
