Cops detain 5 men and seize firearm, ammo, marijuana

Five men were arrested and a firearm and quantities of ammunition and marijuana seized by officers of the Northern-Central Division, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Tunapuna district on Friday.

The exercise, supervised by Sgt. La Pierre and Cpls (Ag.) Forde, Superville and Gooding, included officers of the Northern-Central Division Task Force (NCDTF), Area West, and Canine Unit, and was conducted between 4 am and 8 am, on Friday 10th June, 2022.

During the exercise, officers executed several search warrants in the Tunapuna district and arrested five suspects who were wanted in connection with shooting offences.

The same party of officers then proceeded to an empty lot of land at Thomas Lane, St. Vincent Street, Tunapuna, where they conducted a search, which resulted in 995 grammes of marijuana being discovered. One black Taurus pistol loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition was also found and seized at that same location.
Investigations are ongoing.
