Police have reportedly detained two teenage boys in connection with the robbery of a US citizen on Charlotte Street in Port-of-Spain on Friday 06th October, 2023.
The robbery was captured by CCTV cameras and showed the victim being assaulted and kicked before she was relieved of her handbag which contained approximately $170,000 in both TT and US currency.
A police officer was also allegedly arrested in connection with this robbery after the victim made a report against him to the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB).
The officer allegedly approached the victim and told her he would make arrangements for her to get back her money, only if he got a cut.
She subsequently made a report and the officer was arrested outside Republic Bank in Port-of-Spain.
